Nestled in the heart of Liverpool at 43 Castle St, Cook Street Coffee is more than just a cafe; it’s a vibrant community hub that encapsulates the charm of traditional English breakfast culture. With a cozy atmosphere and welcoming service, this charming spot is ideal for a quick bite or a leisurely breakfast.

The cafe offers a menu brimming with delectable offerings that will satisfy any morning craving. Start your day with their Hot Buttered Doorstep Toast, a classic choice served with a generous layer of melted butter for that nostalgic comfort. If you fancy something heartier, the Bacon on Doorstep Toast/Roll or Sausage on Doorstep Toast/Roll are robust meat options that pair wonderfully with a large cup of freshly brewed tea. For those seeking a vegetarian delight, the Beans on Toast and their exquisite Baked Potatoes featuring luscious fillings such as Coronation Chicken and Cheese and Beans will not disappoint.

Impressed by the value and quality of the fare, many customers have raved about the offerings at Cook Street Coffee. One glowing review from Sonja Saxby captures the spirit perfectly: 'We were VERY impressed, beautiful breakfast with a large cup of tea, great hospitality in a small, comfortable setting, and at a very reasonable price.' This speaks to the personal touch and attention to detail that the cafe prides itself on.

With its limited seating creating an intimate dining experience, Cook Street Coffee is perfect for small groups or solo diners who wish to soak in the authentic local atmosphere. As another patron, Esther Yong, noted, 'This shop serves authentic English breakfast,' making it a go-to spot for anyone who wishes to dive into the flavors of local cuisine while feeling ‘like a local’.

The charm of Cook Street Coffee lies not only in its menu but also in its commitment to friendly service and community feel. And though it’s important to note that they only accept cash for transactions below £5—a practice that adds a touch of authenticity to its vintage vibe—it’s this kind of honesty and straightforwardness that resonates with visitors and locals alike.

In short, Cook Street Coffee is a must-visit for anyone in Liverpool who appreciates good food, reasonable prices, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Whether you’re craving a hearty breakfast, a cozy space to settle in with a book, or simply a hot cup of coffee to start your day, this cafe delivers on every front.

This place was recommended to my partner and I on Saturday, 20th September by a man in the street who overheard us talking about fancying a nice breakfast. We were VERY impressed, beautiful breakfast with a large cup of tea, great hospitality in a small, comfortable setting, and at a very reasonable price. We will definitely be back

Lovely little cafe, went for a breakfast, excellent food, quick and tasty. Very relaxed. Would have taken a picture of the food but the food was eaten too quick.

This is a real gem in the centre of Liverpool. It's a traditional cafe, no thrills, no fancy coffees, no pretence, and no ridiculous prices. Understandably they're a small business so can't afford to take card payments for under £5, which is fair.

The local breakfast restaurant located in the centre of Liverpool City. The majority are local customers. This shop serving authentic English breakfast. Love the atmosphere and food there, eat like a local. The only downside is limited seating, not suitable for large group gathering, maybe around 4 ppl group size is the max. Definitely will visit again if I am back to Liverpool

An around the corner little cafe. Visited for brunch. Lovely people that work here. I find it amazing they’re able to keep a reasonable price with it being in the heart of Liverpool, taking into account of rent, bills etc. it’s a very small cafe but I like it here. A big English breakfast for £5.5 in 2024. Recommend 10/10 for the price and quality of food. Already shared to all my gym friends about this place!
